About the Position

As a Janitorial Services Assistant at Mt. Cuba Center, you'll play an essential role in creating exceptional guest experiences by maintaining our beautiful facilities and supporting our education and events programming. This position combines custodial expertise with event support to ensure our spaces remain pristine and welcoming for all visitors and program participants.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of Mt. Cuba Center facilities through comprehensive custodial duties including furniture cleaning, floor care, waste management, and restroom sanitation
  • Execute setup and breakdown of both indoor and outdoor spaces for programs and events, including arrangement of furniture, tents, and equipment
  • Monitor and maintain custodial supply inventory, coordinating with the Custodial and Event Services Lead for restocking
  • Support food and beverage service operations when needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Working knowledge of custodial practices, supplies, and equipment preferred
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements

  • Regular physical activity including standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments

Schedule and Compensation

  • Seasonal position limited to 500 hours per year (averaging 12-16 hours per week)
  • Typical schedule: Wednesday – Sunday, 3 days per week, 4-hour shifts
  • Shift examples: 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM (varies based on events and programming)
  • Hourly rate: $16.00 per hour
